I personally am a swimmer so i will answer your question as well as possible. i think it is a scientific process because it uses a lot of muscle and certain body movements to get the strokes down right. you need to know about the way the body works to improve your stroke. Breathing patterns, kicking and pulling each have their own scientific things about them and if you can realize them and how you should move your body to get the most effective results, then you will become MUCH faster. Take breaststroke for example. I suck at it... but my coach taught our team on a technique day that will help with the kick. If you try ungulations (not sure if that's spelled right and you should look up what those are) then you snap your feet really hard, it will give you a lot of momentum. Hope this Helped!
Swimming involves the application of principles from physics, such as buoyancy, drag, and propulsion. The study of the human body's biomechanics in the water also contributes to the scientific understanding of swimming performance. Additionally, research on swimwear materials and designs demonstrates the application of science in optimizing athletes' performance.
