Polyester is water resistant. It is better than other materials (like nylon). I have worn pants with polyester on the outside for skiing and is very good for the snow. Make sure to wear layers if u go skiing. :)

no, its not absolutely necessary some people don't wear them normally because its their first few times and they don't realize what they are doing. But if you don't want your eyes to water out all the time and if you don't want your face to freeze off then yes you DO need goggles...and i wouldn't recomend skiing without them at all...(14 yrs of skiing)
