FINA rules for diving pools:
FR 5.3.10 Mechanical surface agitation shall be installed under the diving facilities to aid the divers in their visual perception of the surface of the water. In pools equipped with an underwater bubble machine, the machine should only be used for this purpose if it creates sufficient water agitation when working with a very low pressure; otherwise a horizontal water sprinkler system should only be used.
You usually see them in diving competitions. The water spouting into the pool gives the divers perspective on the distance to the surface of the pool.
The smallest diving platform is a 1m. But, there are many other diving platforms. Such as, 3m,5m and 7m etc.
Blue shards are found underneath the water while diving.
Green shards are found underneath the water (or in the sand on islands) while diving.
In the Olympics, and other high level diving events such as the NCAA Championships or US Diving Championships, only one platform is competed -- the 10 meter platform. There are, however, other platform levels that are routinely used. In junior US diving or AAU meets, the 5 meter and 7.5 meter platforms are also commonly used. Divers often use these lower platforms to train, learn new dives, and brush up on basic skills. Many training pools also have a 1 meter and 3 meter platform for training purposes. Young divers can learn skills like armstands or platform take-offs from these heights. However, the 1 and 3 meter platforms are not used in competition.
Events at the Olympics are performed on a three meter springboard and a ten meter platform.
Tom was competing in various diving events.
The fastest type of diving is high diving, where divers jump from platforms ranging from 20-27m high and reach speeds of up to 96 km/h. This extreme sport requires precise technique and skills to execute dives safely from such heights.
It is diving on a high diving board.
Tom went to his local swimming pool with his family where he learnt to swim while very young. Whilst he was swimming he watched the people diving from the platforms and wanted to have a go. The rest is history.
In my diving club, there are no members in the US diving at the moment.
Competitive diving is when an athlete participates in competitions in the area of springboard diving. There is spring board diving, which is done on either a one meter or a three meter diving board. Then, there is platform diving, which is most commonly done on a five meter, seven meter and ten meter. Diving is a competitive sport practiced in the Olympics, where they do both springboard and platform diving.
