It depends. If you are trying to improve a certain stroke such as butterfly, it can help you get your technique down. Leading to a faster swim time. They can also strengthen muscles more than without them. One the flip side, all they do other then that is make you faster with them on but without you will most likely be the same speed. They can also simulate the feeling of going faster which for some people helps them in the pool.

Swimming with flippers does make you faster. It takes time off every length (around 1-2 seconds per length).

The important thing to know about using flippers is that it takes a lot more effort to swim with them on. It will make you faster at first, but if you are swimming for a long time then they will eventually make it harder for you rather than easier.

swimming can be difficult sometimes with kicking but flippers make you go faster by giving more flat surface area which is stiff to push but that give alot of force to push really fast.

Flippers/Fins are a swimming training tool. If you are not training or practicing swimming, you should not wear them.
