Water Polo is a ball sport being played in the water, usually in a pool. The ball is being thrown into a smaller version of a Soccer goal to score points. One point is awarded for every goal.
- Although the sport is a very physical game, it is an intellectual game as well. Like football, water polo also uses various plays and strategic moves to move the ball down the field and into the goal. A commonly used move is a semi-circle (often called a mushroom or umbrella for younger players) to attack.
There can be 6 players in the water at one time, with 1 of them being a goalie.
There are 4 quarters in a game, the time limit per quarter varies with your league. If there is a tie game, the match will proceed into overtime, which can either be 2 three minute quarters, sudden death, or a shoot out.
Water Polo is a team sport that is played in a swimming pool. It is far more intense than football.
Water polo is a team contact sport where two opposing teams, consisting of seven players from each team (six "field" players and a goalkeeper), compete for the most goals at the end of the game in 4 timed periods. (since it's a sport aka game, water polo doesn't "do" anything, but the players do play to win the game. See reference link at bottom of this page to Wikipedia article for more info)

There are two aspects to water polo training; skill and stamina/strength. The former is trained by practicing drills repetitively while the latter is trained by doing swimming and weights When I play water polo, I have to train on land (stamina) and in the water (skill), we run and do lots of fitness work, and then we work on how we throw and catch the ball, and do alot of swimming. Hope it helped :)
Water Polo is so named because of its likeness to normal polo and the fact that it is played in water. In reality, it is more similar to Rugby but "water rugby" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
those two sports are totally different the polo is the land sport and water polo is a water sport :D
