Yes. If your object ball is the black 8 ball and it is not the ball that is hit first, it is a foul.
Whichever person touched it last, the opposing team gets it.

hit, spike, and/or hopefully a kill.
You either want the ball to hit on your opponents' side of the court or you want them to hit the ball out of bounds.
The stick you use when you hit the ball in pool
As soon as you hit your opponents ball it is a foul. Under most rules, this results in ball in hand. However, under other rules, knocking the 8 ball in when it is not the object ball is loss of game.
If you struck the 8 ball first as a legal shot, and the cue ball or eight ball pockets the opponents ball, this is not loss of game under league play and typical local rules, regardless of whether the 8 ball goes in or not. However, under some local rules, if you failed to call this as a part of your shot, it is may not be allowed, resulting in either spotting the 8 ball or loss of game.
That is lose of game.
Some good pool tips for a beginner is to line your cue stick up with the white ball and the ball you are attempting to hit into the hole. Do not sink the ball 8 ball.
Recieving the ball is when your opponents team has the ball. Recieving is when you want to have a strong defense plan so you can get ball from the other team when they hit it over without them getting a point. Offense= when your team has the ball and you're setting up for an attack. Defense= when your opponents team has the ball and they're setting up for an attack
Under most rules if you fail to hit your object ball it is a foul, not a scratch. The foul will mean ball-in-hand to your opponent.
