Well, the pawn is Bella and the king is the Volturi. The whole thing means that it is the end of the game between them. That's what I know.
the boy on the cover is Edward Cullen
it is Robert pattinson portraying Edward Cullen
Only if the piece won't be able to attack him then. Example: moving in front of a bishop is okay. Moving in front of a pawn is okay. Moving in front of a knight is okay. King, rook, or queen? No ma'am/sir.
In chess, a pawn can move diagonally by capturing an opponent's piece that is one square diagonally in front of it. This is the only way a pawn can move diagonally.
You can't - well, you can.. but the front bumper cover and the grill are all one piece
New Moon
There is no twilight book with a jigsaw puzzle on the front!
The Twilight Cover - The apple is a symbol that relates to the quote "the forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest". In the biblical story of Adam and Eve, they both know that they aren't supposed to touch or eat the fruit from the forbidden tree, yet they feel so compelled to that they can't resist. In Twilight, Edward and Bella know that their vampire-human relationship is going against fate, that they shouldn't continue seeing each other, but they simple can't resist. The New Moon Cover - Stephenie has no say in the making of this cover. Her publishers created it...She doesn't know what the meaning behind the tulip is. The Eclipse Cover - It's the frayed ends of Bella's life. The Breaking Dawn Cover - The little pawn in the back of the picture represents Bella at the beginning of the book. The pawn is the weakest player in the game of chess; Bella was the weakest member of the Cullen family, she always felt inferior because she was human. Then the big chess piece in the front is the most powerful piece in a game of chess -- The Queen. It represents Bella at the end of the book; She's powerful, and it is basically because of her that they won the "battle" with the Volturi (in essence, they won the game of chess) The cover truely shows the transformation of Bella from the beginning of Twilight to Breaking Dawn. sandyy11 My opinion of the cover of New Moon: New Moon is centered around the dark night for Bella, left alone in the woods by Edward. He left her heart bleeding and falling apart (like the flower). Sam Uley found her in the woods that night in the pitch black. Some part of Bella that noted that the sky was dark, with no moon to help her out of the woods. Like no one was there to help her out of the deep depression she was in. But when she met Jacob, he lit up her world, giving her a purpose in life. Jacob didn't make everything better, but he stitched up some of the hole in her heart. The flower is thriving, but not growing anymore, just like Bella's heart. My opinion of the cover of Breaking Dawn: The chess game represents the battle with the Volturi. Chess is a game based on logic and the mind. During and after the time that Bella was mortal, no one could get into her mind. She is safe there. Most of the Volturi cannot hurt her or her family, once Bella extends her shield. The majority of the Volturi guard's powers are left useless, afraid to attack in front of the 'witnesses'. Bella is put on top, and becomes one of the most powerful in the clearing, explaining why she is shown as the queen piece. But as for the pawn, it stands for the blood and the determination she gave to be where she is now, an immortal. Breaking Dawn's cover shows how she changed, and how remarkable she really is, no matter what she thinks. kittykween52

It depends on the piece. The little ones in the 'front row' are called pawns. The rooks are at each end of the board. Beside the rook, is the Knight, which generally looks like a horse. Beside the knight is the Bishop which looks 'pointy' (as my chess students call it Mr. Pointyhead) and has a notch in the side. In the middle comes the King and the Queen. The king is generally the taller middle piece.
Chess is a game of decisions and thinking ahead so for me that symbolizes Bella having to make alot of decisions in this book(just when she thought all of the important ones were taken care of). The red pawn. A pawn in chess is just about the most insignificant piece on the board. It is the weakest off all of them. Well this for me symbolized her as a human. Small(as in power), weak & in her mind pretty much useless. I also think that the color red could represent the blood still flowing throughout her body. And the White Queen. A queen piece in chess is the piece with the most power. So this could represent Bella as a vampire. Powerful, no longer weak, and white as granite.
a chess game with the qween in the front
