There are many reasons really. A team can move quicker and in less time if the team is efficient. Truthfully a person that is working solo on the same project as a well organized team, the team will usually beat the solo person. The solo worker will have to manage any issues that come up alone, working harder than any one person on that team, and completely giving him/herself to the task at hand. He/she will not have free time, he/she will not be at their best, and he/she will get tired after awhile. Most task that do require a team are setup that way so that no one person is burdened by the stress of the whole and as a plus a team can cooperate to make a job that looks impossible seem like a piece of cake.

Now that you know the difference between solo and team, one thing should be clear a team is the best way to go in most situations. Being a team player though means working well with the other members of the team and that is the other key I made earlier." Efficiency" is what is needed to be the best team. A person that does not work as a team brings the team down as a whole and also slows the project down as well. A good leader can tell you "How can you lead without learning to follow first". True you can show off or be rowdy and the job may still get done but it won't be as well done or efficient, and in the end it will wear on you and when you have left everyone behind, who is going to help you?
