You DO need stamina. Swim more and stop and rest less.
When I was on swim team we did a lot of things that increased our stamina and our speed. Stamina comes first though and you can only do that by swimming more and pushing yourself harder. If you don't have stamina, you will probably not do good when you want to compete with someone of if you are in a competition.

well it depends what gymnastics you do.
in acro, you need to be able to, perform at least 1 2 and a half minute routine (2 routines at grade 3 and above), which will include, lifting, holding, and pitching your partners (if your a base) aswell, as performing tumbles and individual elements, all in 2 and a half minutes.
if your stamina isn't good thn it can be very dangerous, as you can drop your partner and injure them, or you could injure yourself!
Although football is a start and stop sport (in an average 60 minute game only 5 minutes of it is actual gameplay) the players typically exert themselves 100% in those five minutes. Unlike long duration sports such as soccer, there is no "down time" to rest during the play, and the added wear of collisions increases the need for stamina. On a seperate note, it is also one of the most mentally fatiguing sports.
Skiing is an extreme sport. Some would called it Endurance Sport. This means that sports like skiing must have a great stamina to keep up with the extremity of the sports. Gliding terrains and slopes requires balance. Most especially, pressure and coldness in snow adds up. A weak stamina can't keep up.
So that you don't get tired before the game is half over. Stamina is the opposite of fatigue. The more stamina you have, the longer it takes for you to get tired of running, jumping, etc.
