There have been unofficial games between the sexes. However, these are usually charity matches and the like in a just for fun approach . This because of the anatomical differences between the two and the issues of manhandling someone of the opposite sex. The IRB welcome different gender teams to be forms but because of the potential for sexual abuse and because physical differences in the tackling and other contact areas it was decided that competitions between the 2 sexes at adult level would be kept separate for safety reason. There are games such as touch Rugby and tag rugby that both sexes can play because of the non contact rule
