There are no time outs or rest periods, except in modern American college soccer, which means that you could possibly be running for 45 minutes (each half) at a time up and down a field. Depending on which position you play the running varies(outside backs and midfielders typically do the most running for long periods) and if you aren't fit to play, a coach might not play you at all.
