Traditionally, helmets are not used in flag football because it is generally believed that, because there is no tackling in football, there will be no risk of head injury. However, with the explosion of concussion and sports-injury related research, that paradigm is beginning to shift. Flag football and 7 v 7 leagues across the country are beginning to implement the use of soft-shell head guards during flag football, so as to protect players' heads. A company called RockSolid has emerged as a front-runner in building patented head guards designed specifically for non-contact football. Their website is LiveRockSolid.com, and they can be found on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook at @RockSolid
