It appears that the decision on whether an 'Sport' becomes Olympic is based on Male/Female participation along with the the Universal country participation. Netball is primarily a Female Sport with very limited Male participation. The same goes for Rugby where Males are by far the primary participants. Although Netball is played by some 70million people in some 60 countries, it's female 'exclusivity' prevents it from getting voted in I believe. JA Husband to UK 'B' Class Netball Umpire

Skateboarding is not in the Olympics because skateboarding is not about contests.
there are many skateboarding contests such as street league, maloof money cup, Tampa am/pro and phoenix am. skateboarders enter those because they are trying to get their name out and win a bit of money so they can continue doing what they love most. skaters enjoy entering small contests like that because they could potentially get noticed and get a call from a sponsor that will ultimately help them pursue they're personal goals by providing them with free product so that they do have to get a 9 to 5 job.
by adding skateboarding to the Olympics you are loosing the true essence of the sport itself.
when people skateboard on the street or at a skate park they are not competing against each other. they are doing it for fun or for their own benefit.
Ringette is not an olympic sport because not enough countries play it.

There are not enough teams playing ringette. If we spread the word around, it will eventually get there! It should be in the olympics, no matter what people say!
