On January 17, 1971, veteran Craig Morton started for the Dallas Cowboys against the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V at Miami's Orange Bowl Stadium. Morton was selected over quarterback Roger Staubach, who had alternated with Morton in several games during the 1970 regular season. In the fourth quarter, Morton threw two key interceptions that enabled the Colts to pull off a 16-13 victory.
