Howley, who was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys from 1961 to 1973, also is remembered as the only member of a losing team to win a Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award. Howley was named MVP of Super Bowl V, in which he intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble despite the Cowboys' 16-13 loss to the AFC champion Baltimore Colts. He was inducted into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor on October 30, 1977.
