The best basketball player of all time was Len Bias. He was the perfect player at Maryland and if he hadn't died, he would have played with the elite Celtics and would have won several championships. That's why you don't take drugs! He was the greatest by far.

I reckon Michael Jordan was the best player of all time and still is.

(In no particular order) Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Pete Maravich, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, are all players who have excelled in one way or another.

I personally think that Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain is the best basketball player of all time. He got 100 points in one game and finished the season with an average of 50.4 points per game. Don't get me wrong: Micheal Jordan is really good, but he did not get 100 points in one game.

I believe that there is no best basketball player. There are different eras that players play n, the one who dominates their era is the best of that era. Since none of the players considered as the "greatest" can ever play each other in their prime, the "best" will never be determined.
