This is an age old question..truth is, there is no ONE answer. Players come in all shapes and sizes and depends on what are your parameters for best player? (Most goals scored? Most goals prevented? Best Goalkeeper?) Players from different positions cannot be compared against each other and it takes a great TEAM to make a great player. People tend to highlight the goalscorers and not realize that Defenders play a crucial role. So probably a better question would be...Who was the best Striker? or Who was the best Midfielder? or Who was the best Defender?
