Xabi Alonso against Newcastle (65 yards)

That's not even close.

Pat Jennings (Spurs) scored in the Charity shield against Man U in 1967 with a kick from within his own penalty box. It might not be the longest ever, but it's certainly longer than Alonso's and as far as I know was the longest at the time. It was still being talked about in the 70's and 80's when I used to play soccer. Other goalkeepers (like Pat) have also scored from their own penalty box, so if you can find a longer goal than about 100 yards, then it might be a record. (100 yards is about right, because the pitch is 120 yards long and the penalty box is 18 yards long ... so from the edge it's 102 yards to the goal line in a straight line ... assuming it went dead straight, and giving a little leeway).

The longest kick in Australian football history is 107+ or 109+ yards, depending on source, kicked by Albert Thurgood, using a place kick back in about 1899.
