1. Ted Williams 2. Pedro Martinez 3. Carl Yastremski 4. Roger Clemens 5. Manny Ramirez Or, from the perspective of a fan in the stands and on the couch, these are the players that created the most exciting fan experience on game days: 1. Ted Williams (beyond words. hands down, the best hitter of all time, and he gave his best years to the nation) 2. Carl Yastrzemski (1967, when he won the triple crown and made key hit after key hit game after game, still stands out in my mind as the most dominant single season performance by any player in the modern era in terms of a player's value to his own team. Yaz in 1967 gave us a truly immortal performance, and the last triple crown year in Baseball history). 3. Luis Tiant (he wasn't here for very long, but you absolutely could not miss a game he pitched. Tiant was the best entertainer in Red Sox histroy, and there wasn't a close second until the past couple years and the arrival of Pedroia and Ellsbury, both of whom do things we've never seen before, and make today's Boston Red Sox a truly special team. 4. Pedro Marinez. (nasty competetive, he'd as soon plunk you as stike you out. Another truly wonderfal entertainer.) 5. This is the tough one, because there are so many worthy players. And I have to give it to Curt Schilling for what he gave us in the 2004 playoffs. That was the year we Red Sox fans finally rose from our graves, and Schilling's bloody sock more than anything else exemplifies that wonderful season.
