He signed a three year contract that gave him a $50,000 signing bonus and salaries of $50,000 in 1979, $70,000 in 1980, and $85,000 in 1981. Ironically, WR Dwight Clark was drafted in the 10th round of the 1979 NFL draft by the 49ers and he and Montana teamed up to help take them from obscurity to Super Bowl Champions. It would be safe to say that Clark signed for much less than Montana.
