The reason Norwich F.C. are nicknamed the Canaries is because in 1902 when the club was started they were known as the Citizens and played in blue and white.
By April 1905 the pastime of canary rearing had become very popular and it was this that led to the change of name to the Canaries.
It took until the 1907/8 season to see the team run out in their now famous canary yellow and green kits.
