There are many international soccer competitions, so they take place in different countries. The biggest international soccer competition is the World Cup. It is played ever 4 years, in a different country each time, or as in the 2002 World Cup, when it was played in Japan and Korea, it could be two countries. Before the teams qualify for the World Cup they will play matches to try to qualify. They are usually played in a continent, with groups of teams, with the winners of each group qualifying. In those groups, each country plays each other country twice, once in their own country and once in the opposition's country. There could be up to about 7 teams in a group.
