Ghana have hosted the tournament twice: in 1963, when they beat Sudan 3-0 in the final, and in 2000 (co-hosted with Nigeria), when Cameroon beat Nigeria in a penalty shoot-out in the final, 4-3 after a 2-2 draw. Ghana went out in the quarter-finals, 1-0 to South Africa.
