Eli Manning was originally drafted by the Chargers in the 2004 draft (first round overall pic, but was traded during the draft to New York for their fourth overall pick (which turned out to be Phil Rivers), a third round pick in that draft, and the Giants first and fifth round picks in the 2005 draft. For all they asked for, personally I think San Diego screwed up.

Although drafted in 2004, he didn't become the Giants starting quarterback until the 2005 season, after Kurt Warner voided the last year of his contract (oh well..). The rest is NFL history.

Manning took over as starting QB from Kurt Warner in the Giants' 10th game. The Giants lost 6 straight before defeating Dallas in the final game of the season to end up with a 6-10 record.
