On February 14, 1912, Phoenix became the capital of Arizona.

In 1944 because of the large number of players enlisting in WWII, the Chicago and Pittsburgh Teams combined to become Card-Pitt in 1944. The franchise then moved to Phoenix in 1988 and played under the name Phoenix Cardinals until 1993. In 1994 they changed their name to the Arizona Cardinals and have remained in Arizona to the present day.
