as of 2009-2010 season this year is because they are 4-0 and are foreseen to go to the Super Bowl 44

It could be argued that 2006 was a better season, since the Saints went to the NFC Championship (but lost to Chicago)....as of 1/16/2010 the Saints are poised to play in the second round of the NFC post-season, having won a bye in the first round. the second week of post season play will see the Saints host the Arizona Cardinals (and QB Kurt Warner)...if the Saints win, and move on to the NFC Championship Game, they will have matched their 2006 season. And if the Saints win that game, they would move to the SuperBowl for the first time ever. Currently they are one of five teams who have never been to the SuperBowl.

But in all actuality the Saints have always been good. They're just finally realizing their true potential and showng the world what they can do.
