Liverpool have won the European Cup 5 times. This includes 1 Champions League name, as the competition was rebranded in the early 90's.
The fifth European Cup victory came against AC Milan in 2005. Milan were winning 3-0 at half time and Liverpool fought back to take the game into extra time 3-3. With a goaless extra time, Liverpool would then go on to win via a penalty shootout.
Two years later the two teams met again in the final, with Milan coming out on top.
5th
Liverpool have won the European Cup 5 times. They have won the trophy once under it's current Branding of "Champions League". They won the European Cup for the third time in 1981 beating Real Madrid 1-0 in the final.
came back from 3-0 down to 3-3 and then won it on penalties
I think you are on about the Champions League final in Istanbul in 2005..... The match was the best Champions League final game ever it was AC Milan V Liverpool FC and AC Milan took a 3-0 lead at half-time but in the second half Liverpool scored 3 goals to draw the game and take it to pens were Liverpool won and took the European cup home to Anfield for the 5th time.
in 2005 Liverpool won but finished 5th in the EPL. They were allowed in at the first qualifying round with the 4th place team in at the 2nd qualifying rouns (Everton). So why not this year also?
Liverpool are the most underated side in England - people need to acknowledge the power that they possess and Rafa Benitz 5 year plan - this year is the 5th year and we will be crowned champions - We have also won the most trophies of any premiership team since the turn of the millennium - Overated I think not!!!
None of the current Liverpool first team has a birthday in February.
they had finished fourth in the 2004-05 season......and that is the same season when Liverpool finished 5th in the premier league but on the other hand the Champions league was also won by Liverpool ......so after the finals it was decided that the champions league holder has to play in the champions league on a mandatory basis and thus liver pool were part of the 2005-2006 champions league..... Everton on the other hand after finishing fourth had a chance to play in the champions league, but at that time of the decade the rule said that the teams finishing third and fourth in the league has to go through a qualifying round, and thus Everton did not beat the team which was pitted against it and thus did not play in the champions league.......
2004-05 they were 5th. 2004-05 they were 5th.
Im trying to find this out myself to settle a debate, under my belief you don't as this no longer applies anymore after Liverpool finish 5th but won it. they actually never worked out this could happen they allowed Liverpool the chance to qualify but changed the ruling the season after.
Because they went into pre-qualifacation round wich they got 5th place and had the chance to play for a spot in the group stage
May 5th 2008Manchester united did not win the champion league in 2008, they last won it in 1999 in Barcelona. That year they won the treble.
