Andy Maurer was an American football offensive lineman in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, and the Denver Broncos. He played in Super Bowl IX as a member of the Vikings and Super Bowl XII as a member of the Broncos. Maurer played college football at the University of Oregon.

I would say college football came first because I live in New Hampshire and go to a lot of UNH basketball games and they have posters that say they had a football team in the late 1890's. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a NFL in the 1890's.
