you can score a goal in netball when either goal attack or goal defence shoots the netball into the hoop.
In netball, you cannot score a goal directly from a throw from the centre third. The ball must be passed to a player within the attacking circle, and only players in the shooting positions can attempt to score. Therefore, the ball must be brought into the goal circle before a shot can be taken.

The difference between basketball and netball is that in basketball you can take more than 2 steps and dribble up the court, but in netball the most amount of steps you can take is 2 and you are put in certain positions. Another difference is that netball is played in thirds and basketball in halves.
