If you read the rule book and then watch an NBA game, you will quickly notice that there is no such violation anymore. a walk in Basketball is technically speaking a 'travel'. When the person with the ball starts walking/running without first putting the ball to the floor.

Judging by the clip I just saw on ESPN, the answer is nothing. It's the reason I don't watch anymore. Three steps or shuffling the feet prior to putting the ball on the floor to dribble.

It means to travel. It is when you take too many steps without dribbling the ball. Or when you take too many steps after you stop dribbling the ball.
