The oldest AFC team's are the "original NFL" franchises that are now in the AFC. The oldest is by far the Pittsburgh Steelersfounded in 1933. Second were the Browns in 1946 and third were the Colts in 1953.

The first AFL teams were founded in 1959. When the league began play in 1960 their were 8 teams but the original 6 were as follow:

Dallas Texans (Chiefs) , New York Titans (Jets), Houston Oilers (Titans), Denver Broncos, and the Los Angeles Chargers (San Diego). The sixth was Minnesota (Vikings) who opted out of the AFL before the season started in order to join the NFL as an expansion team in 1960.

The founder of the AFL Lamar Hunt created the Dallas Texans now known as the Chiefs so it could be said that they were "first" AFC team...
