In the game of Baseball there is no rule as to the number. A player can continue to foul balls off for hours. One exception to this rule; A player is out if there are 2 strikes and he/she fouls an attempted bunt. Many recreational and competitive softball leagues state a hitter is out upon a foul ball on third strike. In Basketball in American college and international competition, a player is disqualified when they pick up their fifth foul. In the NBA, a player is disqualified on the sixth foul.
In the NBA, a player is disqualified upon picking up his sixth foul. In American college and International play, a player is disqualified upon picking up his fifth foul. As for baseball, well, I think their rule is very foully itself. In order to speed up the game of baseball and make it more exciting, I propose there be a strict limit on foul balls. Change the rules in professional baseball and make it that once the count reaches two strikes, the batter may only hit ONE MORE FOUL BALLwithout penalty. On the second foul after the second strike, the batter is OUT ... and it's scored as a strikeout for the pitcher. It's that simple!
there is no limit
5 in High School & College and 6 in the NBA.
No, in the NBA a player has to reach 6 fouls before he's "fouled out".

5 fouls is when a Basketball player will be kicked out of a basketball game due to fouling out.
unlike in the NBA that the maximum of fouls is six, in a high school game the maximum of fouls you can commit is five fouls. I recommend you not to foul to hard because the ref can expel you from the game if he thinks that you did it on purpose. believe me it have happened to me. good luck.
