So many options, like:

June 23, 1984, Cardinals at Cubs-

Cardinals lead 7-1 in middle of game, then 9-3 in 9th inning. Cardinal Willie McGee hits for the cycle. Ryne Sandberg homers of Cards' Hall-of-Fame closer, Bruce Sutter, to tie game at 9. Cards go up 11-9 in 10th, but Sandberg hits a 2-run homer again off Sutter to tie game at 11. Cubs win 12-11 in 11 innings.

-Hall of Fame manager Whitey Herzog was the Cards' manager.

September 16, 2006, Padres at Dodgers-

Padres lead 9-5 in 9th inning. Jeff Kent, J.D. Drew, Russell Martin, and Marlon Anderson hit back-to-back-to-back-to-back homers to tie game at 9. Padres lead 10-9 in bottom 10th. LA shortstop Nomar Garciaparra hits walk-off 2-run homer in 10th to win 11-10.

-Famous broadcaster Vin Scully, age 77, broadcasted the game for LA.

July 4, 1985, Mets at Braves-

Keith Hernandez hits for cycle for Mets. The score is 11-11 in top 19th inning. Mets score 5 in 19th and win 16-13 in last of 19th on Fourth of July.

-During the '84-'85 off-season, Keith was picked up from St. Louis. Hall-of-Famer Gary Carter was the Mets catcher.

May, 1984, Brewers (AL) at White Sox-

Score is tied 1-1 in 8th inning with 38-year-old Hall-of-Famer Tom Seaver pitching. Later, the score is tied 3-3 in extra innings, and a 3-run homer is hit by Brewers in overtime, but White Sox tie the score at 6-6. In the bottom of the 25th inning, DH Harold Baines homers to center field to win the game 7-6 for White Sox in 25 innings.

-Seaver gets credit with 2 wins that game, and the whole game stretches for part of 2 days.

May 26, 1959, Braves (Milwaukee) at Pirates-

Pirates pitcher Harvey Haddix starts vs. best team in baseball in '59 (Braves), and pitches a perfect game for 12innings. He lost the perfecto in the 13th on an apparent homer, but the runner passed the runner in front of him, but got credited for a double. He ended up losing the complete game.

-Haddix's opposing pitcher, Braves ace Lew Burdette, pitched a 12-hit shutout and won the game.

1956 World Series Game 5, Dodgers (Brooklyn) at Yankees-

Little-known Yankees pitcher Don Larsen pitches a perfect game vs. one of the most popular and talented teams (Dodgers) in US sports history. For the early part of the game, ace Whitey Ford was warming up in the bullpen and Hall-of-Famer Mickey Mantle saved the perfecto with a good catch.

-Larsen could've lost his no-no because Hall-of-Fame slugger Duke Snider almost hit a home run, but it barely stayed foul.

Home team: Brooklyn Dodgers

Visitors: Boston Braves

Date: May 01 1920

Innings: 26

The game was called due to darkness, as they didn't have lights way back then, resulting in a 1 - 1 tie and going down in history as the longest game by innings.

Home team: Chicago White Sox

Visitors: Milwaukee Brewers

Date: May 09 1984

Innings: 25

Length: 8 hours & 6 minutes

The game began on May 08 but according to MLB rules an inning cannot begin after 12:59 AM so the players and fans had to come back the next day.

The overall game time was 8 hours 6 minutes with Chicago finally winning 7- 6 on Harold Baines' home run in the 25th inning, one inning short of the record, but still the longest game based on time.
