6" . A STANDARD RECTANGULAR BACKBOARD IS 42" HIGH. THE TOP OF RIM IS 36" FROM THE TOP OF BACKBOARD, SO THAT LEAVES 6" FROM THE BOTTOM OF BACKBOARD TO TOP OF RIM.
