Goal keepers need shoes with good traction so that they can shift sides more easily. An example would be if someone acts as if they are shooting the ball into the right corner of the net but actually were aiming for the left.

If you have a very thin set foot then nikes are pretty durable for a defender. but through the years pumas have worked well for me getting a good number of seasons out of them. so good luck with shoe shopping. (insert smiley face here)
