Soccer (European football) and American football
Steve Young, QB - San Francisco just to name one. Do you mean American Football or European?
American football and European football are very different games with little in common but a name. In America, they don't even have the name in common because European football is called soccer in America. European football uses a round ball. Only the goalie can touch the ball with his hands; everyone else must use foot, head or another body part to move the ball into the goal net of the opposing team. The game is a running game with players dressed in light clothing. American football uses an oblong football and has no goalies. The ball is carried down field, or kicked, and every player is expected to try to lay hands on it. It is a blocking game with the players dressed in heavy protective garments and helmets. Instead of kicking the ball into a goal net, as is done in European football, the ball must be kicked between two tall poles in the opposing team's end zone, or carried across a line into the opponent's end zone.
NFL (national football league) NCAAF (college football) XFL (X-treme football---banned) AFL (Arena football league) UFL (United Football league) CFL (Canadian Football League) EFL (European Football League)
American football was first known as association football. The world knows soccer by the name "football," rather than American football.
Assuming you mean American football and NOT European Football (soccer) Yes it is. American football resulted because of a number major diverse changes to the rules of rugby, most notably the rule changes instituted by Walter Camp, who is considered the "Father of American Football".
Unfortunately there is no sport known as sky football. There is American football, which is played differently than European football, which is also known as soccer.
In the USA you have American football and soccer.
Fussball
Portugal but don't trust me. It is true if is about the European football Cup 2004
Canada has what is known as 'American football', as well as the European football (called 'soccer' in Canada), although the two are vastly different. American football involves players throwing and carrying a brown leather ball to score on the opposing teams endzone. European football aka soccer is played with opposing teams kicking a black and white ball into the opposing teams net.
ANSWER. Football is football where ever you are. There is only one football. American football is known as gridiron outside of north America, or American style rugby in China. American football is not played much outside the USA. It is unknown in most countries. Rugby is far more popular worldwide than gridiron.
