IF the defender is in the neutral zone or past it when the ball is snapped, its an offside. But the foul is announced after the completion of the play to allow the Offence to keep any yardage gained if they so deserve. If they choose to accept the foul, then 5 yards penalty is assessed against the defense. Check out : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football_rules#Fouls_by_either_team
The offside rule, or Law 11, is designed to add more sporting play to soccer. The International Football Association Board (IFAB, the group the writes and updates the Laws of the Game, of which FIFA is a member) believed that since without the offside rule, teams would post one or two players near the opposing goal to collect and score on long balls. Before there was offside, this was legal, but unsporting. By adding the offside rule, players would have to be onside at the moment their teammate plays the ball (if they become involved in play), or the other team would get a free kick. As a result, the game became more exciting, more sporting, more tactical, and ultimately more fair.
Yes
The offside rule is used in winter sports such as American football and ice hockey.
In MLS they use the offside markers to see if a player is offside
Yes, there is an offside penalty in American Football. The neutral zone is defined as the area extending from the tip of the football to each side of the field, so the neutral zone is as wide as the length of the football. No player, except the center, may have any part of his body in the neutral zone at the time the ball is snapped, otherwise they are guilty of being offside. On a kickoff, no player may have any part of his body across the line upon which the ball rests prior to the kick, except for the holder if one is used. The penalty for offside is 5 yards.
Offside was not introduced as a separate rule. English football has always had offside. The earliest sets of rules which were drawn up in the nineteenth century all included an offside rule.
The ball cannot be offside. Players can be in an offside position.
NO holding. your lucky my bf is in football
A free kick at the point of offside, everytime
There is no "offspring" in football. What you mean is probably the offside rule. The offside rule is one of the most debated and asked about rules. However it is quite simple. If the player is in front of the ball when it is passed and has not got at the least two defending players closer to the defending goal line than they are, she or he is said to be in an offside position.
well, if you are behind the last man you are offside but if you are in front of the last man you are onside
Yes Women very well especially the ones interested in football know the offside rule. only joking its a bit weird if they do. they should go and shop somewhere
To be offside, you do not have to touch it. If you interfere with an opponent (e.g. possibly lunge at him) or gain an advantage by being there (e.g. recover a deflection off the keeper or goalpost) are also enough.
