The foul ''holding'' in Basketball is when you are guarding some player and lets say they get past you and you hold onto their jersey, shorts, hand, etc.
holding in basketball is like the same thing in football holding by the shirt or shoes its not illegal but it will be a tech foul
Personal foul
holding pushing tripping charging illegal screen blocking hitting technical flagrant
Not in itself. If your arm impedes the ballhandler, it may be holding. If you hit them with your arm, that is also a foul. But "reaching in" is not the name of a foul. This is covered on a list of 7 basketball rule myths on NBA.com. (http://www.nba.com/jrnba/officials/officials_guide_section15.html)
Yes just as long as you don't make to much physical contact or that cab be a foul. :/
Technicals, charge, reach, bartending, double dribble, up and down, holding, tripping, pushing, punching, elbowing, team foul, offensive foul, over the back, hand checking, illegal screen, illegal blocking, fighting foul, flagrant foul, loose ball foul, away from the play foul, double foul and blocking. whew. that's a lot 2 type in at once.
When a player on the team with the ball commits a foul
a foul?
In Basketball, a foul, is a penalty for doing something against the rules of the game.
Yes it is a foul but you don't get free throws
yes
Many, many, many things. However, let's assume that by "illegal" you mean illegal basketball wise. Then, holding the ball and swinging your elbows would be considered a foul (if you hit someone, of course).
