a 'flex' is a player (commonly the pitcher) who only fields and does not bat! they have a DP or DH (designated player/designated hitter) who bats in their place :) hope that helps !
It is the 10th spot in the batting order of a player that only plays defense but does not bat.
From my experience miken does not make a single wall bat although the maniac is an alloy it's still multi wall
To shave a bat is to take material off the inner wall of the bat. This allows for a greater flex giving you more distance.
The regular flex is a stiffer flex than the mid flex. A regular flex is comparable to an 85 flex. The mid flex is closer to a 75 flex.
They named it softball because the game of softball was derived from Baseball. The baseball had a hard core whereas the softball has a soft core, so they named it softball. Although the ball is not softball the core of the ball is soft.
Callaway make this shaft flex, it is designed in between a regular flex and stiff flex shaft.
Softball is played on a softball field or it is often referred to as a diamond.
No, bunting in 16U softball is not illegal.
The number itself means nothing, it's an arbitrary number made up by the manufacturer. The important thing to know is Miken, Easton and DeMarini are the major manufacturers which offer 2 flexes in the handles. Basically, the stiff handle is for players with faster swing speeds and the less stiff handle is for players who need more whip to improve bat speed. There is diminishing return if you have a fundamentally sound swing and use a regular flex handle - the barrel head will lag behind. So, if you are a power hitter get the stiff flex handle. If you're not, get the regular flex handle.
