A pass is usually used when a team is receiving the serve. A pass is usually made with the forearms (bump) although you can overhead pass (set) a serve too. The goal of a pass is to get the ball perfectly to the setter so that she/he can assist a hitter.
Passes are scored as a 3 2 1 or 0. 3 is a perfect pass and 0 is a shanked ball.
