The opposing team shoots the technical foul free throw, then the player does whatever he would have done after he was fouled - either inbound the ball, or if the opposing team is in the penalty, shoot two free throws. Committing a technical foul does not nullify or offset the original foul.

What is a technical shot?
It's a free throw worth one point after someone on the other team gets a technical foul which are given out when a player or coach acts out of conduct such as yelling at the ref, talking trash, taunting, showboating, etc. In the NBA, a player shoots one technical shot for one point. In high school and NCAA (college) they get two technical shots for two points. In the NBA if both players/coaches on separate teams both get a technical foul it's a "double technical" and no free throws are shot.

What is a tenical foul?
There's two types of technical fouls: 1. Standing in the paint (which is in front of the free throw line) for three seconds, if you're on offence, the other team will get the ball. If you're on defense, the team gets 1 free throw for one point. 2. Arguing with the ref, if a coach or a player argues with the ref, they'll warn you by saying they're going to give you a technical foul, if the coach or player keeps arguing with the ref, he will call technical on the coach/player, and the other team will get a free throw for one point. If a player gets two technicals in one game they'll get "injected" and cannot participate in the rest of the game, and cannot sit on the bench, he must leave. If a player/coach has a total of 7 technicals in one season or during the finals, they'll get suspended.

If you're on defense you get a "defensive 3-second call" the other team gets a free throw, which is worth one point, that's how it's done in the NBA. If a player gets enough technicals in a game he/she will be "ejected" meaning they have to leave and cannot participate for the rest of the game, they can't even sit on the bench, the have to leave (NBA rules). If a player/coach gets seven technicals in the season/playoffs they get suspended (NBA rules). Refs. can also call technicals if a player tries to swing at another player, (that mostly will result in an immediate ejection), or if a player taunts another player.

What are the 3 fouls that can happen in a basketball game?
