If a prospect is referred to as a D1 prospect it means they are good enough to play in Division 1 A program or FBS. This includes your bigger name conferences like the Big 12, Big 10, SEC, Pac-12, ACC, and Big East. It also includes smaller conferences like the MAC, WAC, C-USA, Sunbelt, and Independents (like Notre Dame or Army/Navy.)

It is a very high honor and means you are regarded as one of the better high school players in the nation. And the better the teams that offer you (Alabama or Texas as opposed to Troy or Akron) the higher you are regarded as a football recruit.
