The umpire controls the games, and the players. They have to keep focused on the game at all times to make sure that it is fair. If a mistake is made the umpire is allowed to awared the opposing team a FREE PASS or a PENALTY PASS.They are also responsible for the players safety so must check the court before they begin play. Good umpires generally develop a level of empathy for the players.

Get to know the rules( have a good understanding of the game) and don't be easily distracted. When u r distracted u can easily miss something in a Netball game.

well in the official English and Australia rules state that there must be 2 scoreres for a game opne fom each opposing team. tey record the score each time you or the other team gets a goal. but at the end of the game you must go up to the scorers and ask what the score was either that or they come up and tell you.

In a match, netball umpires control the half of the court to their right and the entire sideline which they are placed on. They follow the ball as it travels down the court and pull up any broken rules or mistakes the players make by blowing their whistle and awarding a penalty or free pass. When the ball is shot through the hoop the umpire blows their whistle to signify a goal and at the start of every centre if the last goal was scored in their half they blow the whistle to start play. At the start of the game or at the start of a new quarter the umpire who is controlling play in the half where the ball is headed blows the whistle. If two players catch the ball at the same time the umpire decides possession by doing a toss up and if a player is injured during play they signal to the umpire who calls time and halts the game for up to two minutes. Before the start of the game it is necessary for the umpires to check the length of the player's nails and make sure none of them are wearing jewellrey.

Well first they pick up the things the players do wrong . Also they help you understand the rules of the game. Most umpires are good but some can be really stuck up and just yell at you like your a piece of rubbish.

To follow basic netball rules and blow the whistle when one rule is broken. The biggest rule is to be fair to both teams.
