So the NFL has another jersey to sell! It's strictly motivated by money.

It is something they do to celebrate past years in NFL history. In 2009, it was the 50th year of the AFL, so that also brought special meaning and teams wore their original uniforms when they played each other.

Football teams have different color uniforms because other teams may have the same color uniform and can create confusion. Some teams have 2 or 3 different uniforms. An example is the Baltimore Ravens and the Carolina Panthers. Both teams have black jerseys. The Panthers can wear their white uniforms when playing against them.

Throwback helmets are the design on their helmet they used before now so for example the ravens have a raven as the design on their helmet but the throwback design was a logo with wings so some people say bring back the throwback helmet
