Although one should ultimately consult the rules book for the association under which the game is being played, U12 softball is usually played under the standard dimensions of a varsity-level softball field. Some associations recommend a shorter home run fence and pitching distance, however.
The field dimensions are as follows:
-40 foot pitching distance measured from the back point of the white part of home plate (not the black part) to the front center of the pitching rubber.
-60 foot base distances measured to the outside corners of first and third, and the center of second.
-180-200 foot recommended home run fence distance
-84 feet and 10.25 inches distance between the back corners of first and third and the back point of the white part of the plate to the middle of second.
-The arc around the infield/outfield boundary is recommended to be a 60-65 foot arc from the front center of the pitching rubber.
-Batters' boxes are measured 6 inches from the plate, are 7 by 3 foot boxes, and should be marked so that 3 feet of the box are behind the center of home plate and 4 feet are in front.
