In volleyball there are many terms used.

For passing:

Shank- when the ball hits off someone and cannot be played

Pancake- when someone slides on the floor and slides their hand under the ball and makes it playable

Serving:

Ace- When the other team cannot play the ball

Float- a type of serve. A solid contact with the ball which makes it float in the air (hard to track in air)

Top spin- when the ball spins forward and drops when it comes over the net

Hitting

Spiker- also known as hitter/attacker. When somebody jumps and hits the ball over the net

Roof- When the blocker blocks the ball from coming over the net

Libero- back row specialist, typically best passer on the team

Well there are many terminologies in volleyball. Most are obvious, like serve. Others include "Bump" (also called a "Dig"), "Set", & "Spike" (also know as "Hit" or "Kill")
