Yes. Former Cowboys wide receiver Pete Gent (1964-1968) wrote a novel/autobiography in 1973 entitled North Dallas 40. The main characters in the book were a quarterback and wide receiver of a professional football team. It is believed that the quarterback was modeled after Don Meredith and the wide receiver after Gent. The movie was released in 1979 and Gent wrote the screenplay.
