The Cowboys headquarters were never on Forest Lane.
The original Cowboys HQ was at 4425 N Central Expressway in Dallas. In 1964, they moved a few blocks north to 5738 N Central Expressway. In 1966, they moved even further north to 6116 N Central Expressway (the same building as the Playboy Club) where they remained until relocating to Valley Ranch in 1985 or '86.
The Cowboys did have a practice facility next door to a hotel near the intersection of Forest & LBJ.
