Not always,if you have the strength to run fast and control the ball with your feet. Tryouts for high school may be challenging like running 2 miles in less than 14 minutes and a lot of scrimmage so the coach can look at more experienced players but they also what to see the ones who work hard and don't give up. They will e looking for your experience in passing, kicking, running, defense, and attitude.

Soccer is no harder than any other sport, and a lot easier than most, to get the basics of - many start playing soccer before they are 10. After that it just takes practise.
