yes they do i am on a high school cheerleading squad and we do stunts for football games all the time!
today cheerleading is alot more competive then it used to be. there still is sideline cheerleading for football and basketball but there are also competions where teams put together a two and a half minute routien and compete againist each other with a pannel of judges. the routien includes stunts tumbling dance jumps and a team cheer.
No cheerleading is way harder and you learn many diffrent skills that involves cheering, dancing, tumbling and stunts. Gymnastic invovles Vault, Beam, and Floor and in cheerleading compettions worlds and many more :) PS: GO GREENSBORO ALL-STAR CHEERLEADING!

The point of cheerleading is to support the team, while entertaining the crowd. Cheerleaders do this by performing stunts, tumbling, dancing, cheering, and being peppy. While cheerleading started out as a sideline only sport it has evolved into being a very competitive sport. For many schools cheerleaders have a football, competition , and then basketball season, which is alot to take in !
Stunts most definitley.
You learn cheers, stunts, jumps, and tumbling
Cheerleading Schools are for incoming cheerleaders. They teach you everything there is to know about cheerleading. They teach you stunts, cheers, dances, stretching, flexability, safety etc... :)
Competition cheerleading is much more extreme. The stunts are harder, and the tumbling is much more advanced. That is not to say that it is unbearably hard and impossible. It is a challenge. You may feel sore until you get used to the workout. But I highly recommend it, it is a great sport.
There is no way to determine if a sport is "harder" than another sport. So lets compare football and cheering (I'm going to use All-Star cheering here) Goal of Sport: Football: Outplay your opponent, using formations, to score the most points to win Cheerleading: Perform a 2:30 routine (composed of stunts, tumbling, jumps, and dance) without flaws to receive a higher score than your opponent. In terms of skill: Football: Football requires stamina, agility, speed Cheerleading: Cheering requires, stamina, strength, flexibility, and coordination In terms of difficulty: Not to down football, but I think its more difficult to throw a girl in the air, or do a back tuck than it is to throw a ball down a field. In terms of danger: Cheerleading is the 3rd most dangerous sport in the world. Football is the 10th Safety: Football: Padding and helmits Cheerleading: Mats, however no body protection Cheerleading has no "off season" no half- time, no time-out and no bench However, many football players lift weights and condition year round
there are 7 parts of cheerleading onpening at the begining stunts jumps motion drill running tumbling pyramid and dance
By national cheerleading laws, it should be. As long as a flyer's head does not go below her feet, no multi-story stunts, etc. However, your school may have different rules.
